Energy Management and Carbon Emissions
At Eczacıbaşı Group, we understand that our operations have a significant impact on the environment, particularly in terms of energy consumption and carbon emissions. As a company that operates in energy-intensive industries, we recognize the importance of taking proactive measures to mitigate our environmental impact.
As part of our commitment to reduce our energy consumption per ton of product by 10% from 2020 levels by the end of 2025, we continuously evaluate our energy consumption and emissions to identify areas for improvement. We also seek to collaborate with our stakeholders to develop innovative solutions that promote sustainable practices and reduce our overall environmental impact.
Renewable Energy
At Eczacıbaşı Group, we are committed to staying at the forefront of emerging technologies and opportunities in the energy sector. As part of this commitment, we regularly conduct feasibility studies to explore the potential of meeting our electricity needs through renewable sources.
As part of our ongoing commitment to investing in renewable energy, we aim to complete our current 83 MW projects and to realize more by evaluating other project opportunities by the end of 2025. At the end of 2030, our ambition is to provide 100% of electricity consumption of energy-intensive Group Companies VitrA Tiles and Eczacıbaşı Building Products; and 50% of electricity consumption of Esan and Eczacıbaşı Consumer Products from self-produced renewable energy. Our ambition for overall renewable energy consumption is to reach approximately 65% by 2030. To reach this target, we have continued to implement a range of renewable energy technologies across our locations.
Water Management
Water is a vital input in the production processes of all Eczacıbaşı Group companies. As part of our commitment to responsible production, we have implemented a range of measures to protect and preserve water sources, while also promoting sustainable resource management.
Our efforts in this area are focused on reducing water use, ensuring efficient use, and increasing wastewater recovery. We carefully consider environmental and social needs during water withdrawal, and regularly perform assessments to manage water-related risks.
Throughout the year, Group companies undertook multiple projects to promote responsible water use to meet our commitment of reducing water consumption per ton of product by 18% from 2020 levels at the end of 2025.
Waste Management
As a prominent global industrial group, Eczacıbaşı recognizes its pivotal role in mitigating operational waste and promoting the adoption of a circular economy model. Our organization is committed to adopting a “zero waste” approach in all our waste management practices, placing significant emphasis on preventing waste at its source.
At every stage of production, from design to the end of our products’ economic life, we are dedicated to closely monitoring the environmental impact of our operations. We have implemented comprehensive processes and procedures to ensure that waste is reduced, separated, recovered, and, wherever feasible, treated as a valuable resource.
