With us the Eczacıbaşı Group providing the initial investment and project finance as the founder and core collection donor, the Istanbul Museum of Modern Art was established in 2004 as Turkey’s first privately funded museum of modern and contemporary art.
Aiming to become a point of reference for the global art world, Istanbul Modern adopts an international approach while collecting, preserving, exhibiting and documenting works of modern and contemporary art, photography, design, architecture, new media and film. The museum supports artists in their creative endeavors and helps them build international collaborations while organizing educational programs to encourage visitors of all ages to engage actively with the arts.
In the scope of its efforts to share the country’s artistic creativity and cultural identity with local and global audiences, Istanbul Modern has so far welcomed 8.5 million visitors and provided free art education to 850 thousand children and young people.
